GSK attorneys have significant experience in assisting clients with environmental issues such as the Clean Water Act. For instance, GSK has assisted numerous clients with obtaining or avoiding the need for Section 404 permits from the Army Corps of Engineers for discharges into wetlands. GSK successfully defended a homeowner found to have violated the Clean Water Act in the building of a bulkhead without a permit. After a trial in federal court in 2005, Judge Leighton ruled that the fine should be $1500, rather than the $100,000 fine pursued by the federal government.
